The Box Cycle is Wybone’s new modular recycling product, featuring an innovative transparent body, and aesthetically pleasing powder coated base and lift off lid. The lids are fully removable and sack retaining with WRAP iconography and apertures to suit the recycling stream for each unit. The recycling bin is designed to be grouped together in pairs or quads to form a recycling station.

The transparent body is made of Lexan, a polycarbonate resin thermoplastic which features excellent weathering resistance, UV protection and the highest impact strength of any transparent glazing product. The properties of Lexan make it perfect for use in the manufacture of our transparent bins, as it is flexible but also durable.

The Box Cycle was developed for Edinburgh University, a project with the aim of increasing their already excellent recycling rate of 63%. The idea of having fully clear bodies was to increase the visibility of the recycled material, to make it as obvious as possible which bin their litter should go in. Hopefully the stigma attached to someone seeing you putting something in the incorrect bin will be enough to deter people doing this.

The aim of the new Box Cycle internal bin strategy is to create recycling points throughout the academic buildings within the University. These points, where several Box Cycles are grouped together, will be like a recycling magnet as all under desk bins will eventually be removed. This will raise awareness amongst staff and students about recycling and increase the amount of waste that is recycled, whilst also reducing the contamination of the waste streams.

Testimonial

“From day one Wybone Ltd have put a lot of effort and resources in designing our very original concept of a transparent internal recycling bin. Wybone Ltd have followed all our requests and managed to design a bespoke recycling bin that not only totally suits our needs but also looks amazing! It is wonderful working with such a cooperative and enthusiastic manufacturer. We are very much looking forward to distributing the Box Cycle units throughout the University”.
