Wybone attend CIWM Resource Conference

March 13, 2015

The CIWM Resource Conference Cymru 2015 took place at the Wales Millennium Centre this week and team Wybone attended to demonstrate our great range of litter and recycling solutions!

As proud members of the CIWM, we were pleased to be involved in such a successful day discussing the advantages of a circular economy and sharing with delegates how we can help to maximise waste resources.

The event was attended by over 100 delegates and included presentations from:

  • John Quinn, President of CIWM
  • Dr Andy Rees, Head of Waste Strategy Branch, Welsh Government
  • Gerrard Fisher, Business Models & Electronic Products, WRAP
  • Craig Mitchell, Head of Waste Support, WLGA

Ruth Partridge, Project Manager for WRAP Cymru presented ‘recycling on the go’ which included sharing multiple projects championing recycling. We were very pleased to see many of our recycling solutions used across the projects, including our work with Bourne Leisure.

Bourne Leisure

Haven Holiday Parks aimed to cut their carbon footprint by 10% by the end of 2013 and they chose Wybone recycling bins to help achieve this. As part of the ‘Recycle on the Go’ scheme from WRAP Cymru, Haven were able to access funding to support their initiative and to really make a difference, increasing recycling at their holiday parks and reducing waste sent to landfill.

We created bespoke recycling units for the project to provide durable bins that were not only practical, but also beautifully designed to compliment their surroundings and manufactured from 66% recycled materials. The units were made from glass fibre composite with a timber or recycled plastic front. The GFC body is available in a variety of colours and the slatted front is available in light oak, dark oak or wood effect recycled plastic. The RLA’s are available in a single, double, triple or quad unit, enabling up to four waste streams.

Wales Millennium Centre Torpedo Recycling Units

We were pleased to see our Torpedo recycling units in use at the Millennium Centre. The centre installed the stylish recycling units two years ago with an aim to increase recycling rates at the venue.

The Torpedo units collect three waste streams, including Paper, Bottles & Cans and General Waste. Manufactured with a backboard to help users quickly identify the waste streams, and with clear panels to the front of the bin to show the recycling streams that are being collected.
