The Dunkirk pub reclaims its style with the help of Wybone
December 16, 2016When a community in Huddersfield heard that their local pub The Dunkirk was facing the prospect of closure, they didn’t want to let the place go without a fight and decided to give the pub a new lease of life with the help of Wybone.
Their PR and Marketing Manager Holly Hampshire approached us to help with their renovation proposal. “We’d heard about Wybone from a business associate, so when we needed outdoor benches it was the obvious choice. What the company had to offer was so much more than we were expecting.”
Our initial involvement was working closely with their team on the outdoor furniture for the pub. Holly explained how their plan branched much further: “Working with designer Hannah, we came up with the benches we wanted but further discussions opened up the possibility of internal furniture as well. Hannah created bespoke designs for dining tables and poser tables, to be used in our pub.”
We created and manufactured both their internal and external furniture from re-claimed wood, giving the recycled material a new purpose that still maintains a stylish and contemporary finish to their refurbished site.

“The end products were aesthetically pleasing but also durable. They’re standing up to being used in a busy environment on a daily basis.” Alongside the furniture, a Tabtidy was installed for disposing of cigarette ends to keep the pub in a tidy condition.
Our Tabtidy units are manufactured from galvanised steel and come with a ten-year ant-perforation guarantee. The unit has a 2.25 litre capacity with an integrated drop down cigarette collection compartment, so there’s no need to worry about emptying the bin on a daily basis.
