Queensgate Shopping Centre saves £19,000 annuallyAugust 28, 2015
In 2011 Queensgate Shopping Centre, Peterborough introduced a customer facing recycling scheme to help achieve their goal of sending zero waste to landfill and a 100% recycling rate.
The cost of disposing of the waste produced by the Shopping Centre and its 16 million visitors (per annum) was £33,000 in 2011, increasing to £55,672 in 2015.
Implementing our Torpedo Triple Recycling Units throughout the shopping centre, car parks and bus station, as well as additional Single and Double Torpedo Units has contributed to consumer behaviour change within the centre.
Carol Wakelin, Environmental Manager at Queensgate “The Torpedo units have been well received and assist with waste segregation by customers. The bins have provided the additional support for Queensgate to achieve zero waste to landfill. This reflects the continuation of Queensgate’s sustainable culture which is embedded within the entire team.”
