Spreading Christmas joy in our local communityDecember 21, 2016
We’ve been busy taking part in some festive fundraising this Christmas, supporting two worthy causes.
We joined the Children’s Hospital Charity’s campaign the National Elf Service, and encouraged staff to dig out their favourite Christmas jumper, wear elfy attire such as pointy ears or stripy tights, or go all out and wear full fancy dress.
Our factory soon resembled Santa’s grotto, with almost every member of staff getting into the festive spirit by wearing their Christmas jumper and other creative costumes.
The National Elf Service campaign aims to help those who are unable to leave Sheffield Children’s Hospital this Christmas. All money raised goes to spreading a little festive joy around the wards, giving children and their family and friends space to play together in a bright and friendly environment.
Their mission is to make visiting hospital an adventure, where the children can play and have fun whilst getting better. The hospital vows that play time is an essential part of treatment. It creates a distraction whilst teaching children about their illness in a language that they will understand. Their surroundings can have a huge affect on their wellbeing, which is why the charity pledges to make hospital a fun and caring place for families who will be spending Christmas on the wards.
We asked our little elves to kindly donate £1 to wear their Christmas jumpers, and we managed to raise a fantastic £146.70 for the National Elf Service! Additionally, every £1 that is donated this Christmas will be instantly doubled by Graham Royle of GRI Group, how amazing is that?
It wasn’t fair to leave the animals out this Christmas time, so we decided to support We Are Barnsley and their seasonal campaign, Animal Crackers! This involved collecting food, toys and accessories to split between local animal charities that work tirelessly to provide care to our furry friends.
Within a matter of days, our Donation Bin was overflowing and a separate bin was needed in order to cope with the amount of goodies that we received from staff. We Are Barnsley were so grateful for our support, just look at how much we collected!
From us all here at Wybone, we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
