Wybone: A year in review!December 23, 2015
At Wybone we’re still working hard to manufacture our customer orders before our Christmas break, wondering how this year has gone so fast! With that in mind, we rounded up our best moments and achievements in this news article. Take a look!
This year marked the beginning of a new era for Wybone. We know we were a little late to the party, but we spent a long time perfecting our new e-commerce website so that we could bring you the ability to buy all of our great products online. Not only that, but we also decided to bring you a growing range of products that you can buy online and receive with Express delivery. That’s a turnaround of just 48 hours (yes, we don’t know how we do it either…but we’ve not disappointed yet!).
If you haven’t seen this range yet, head over to the Express tab on the far right corner of your page. Whether you need grit bins in a hurry or you’re rolling out a new recycling initiative, there’s plenty of choice for whatever your requirements. Don’t forget, you can still order customised versions of our Express options by clicking on the ‘Custom Unit’ tab.
Eagle-eyed viewers in February might have noticed our popular clinical waste bins on the Sky1HD medical drama, Critical. You can see the photos on our news article here.
This year we also partnered with innovative technology company, Enevo, to bring our customers a solution to automate waste collection and route planning. You can read about our Enevo partnership here.
We exhibited again at the annual RWM exhibition and our stand was bigger and better than ever – even if we do say so ourselves! Our cinema themed space included a popcorn machine, drinks bar and our very own Wybone chocolate.
Our famous green box made the journey to Dusseldorf again, taking our clinical bins on tour to the annual Medica conference. Team Wybone had a great time chatting to potential distributors and fulfilling their quota of Bratwurst!
Throughout 2015 we introduced a number of new products to our portfolio. A trial of our new MLB/112 XL (a modified version of our MLB/112 designed to increase capacity by 30% whilst keeping the same footprint) in Birmingham with our new Enevo sensor partnership saw waste collections reduce by half.
We manufactured a new Food Donation Unit to encourage students and staff at Manchester Metropolitan University to donate their unused food at the end of term time. These collection points were placed around the University to provide a convenient way to reduce food waste and help the community.
We also introduced a plastic Box Cycle to our most popular range of recycling units. You can even order these directly from our website when you visit our Box Cycle product page.
Children at Sunny Hill School in Wakefield used Wybone Box Cycles to collect and recycle their milk bottles in order to complete a project. The children eagerly filled the recycling bins and turned 629 four pint milk bottles into an igloo!
We manufactured a range of custom Box Cycle units for the University of Helsinki. In need of a way to increase recycling rates, the University approached Wybone to create custom Box Cycles with 100 litre capacity and bespoke transparent panels in the front to show the waste streams.
A case study with Queensgate Shopping Centre in Peterborough this year showed that since the implementation of Wybone recycling bins in 2011, savings of £19,000 have been created annually.
Amongst our healthcare orders this year, we’re pleased to have been responsible for over 5,500 sackholders in the new Greater Glasgow and Clyde hospital.
In other news…
Always dedicated to going the extra mile for our customers, we have invested heavily this year in new machinery to be more efficient and give our customers everything they need! We’ve implemented a Vacuum Forming Machine to assist with orders for our plastic and moulded products; a new Laser Punch machine to perfectly customise our metal products and a new Press Brake to increase productivity and efficiency.
Now that we’ve told you the highlights we’re going back to making festive reindeer and santa sleighs out of scrap metal…waste is our business at Wybone!
