Brighton and Hove keep their beaches clean with bespoke BBQ bins

August 10, 2018

We’ve had one of the hottest summers on record since 1976, which saw more of us lighting barbeques on a regular basis. The beaches in Brighton are a popular spot for barbeques, which unfortunately, leads to more litter!

We’ve recently worked with Brighton and Hove Council and delivered 20 MLB/224 Litter Bins, purpose designed to collect barbeque waste.

The council adapted our flagship MLB/224 Litter Bin to feature BBQ Waste vinyl text and a bird flap to cover the aperture. The bird flap prevents seagulls from getting inside the unit and removing the waste inside.

Manufactured from durable galvanised steel, primed and powder coated in bright yellow to make them stand out on the Brighton promenade. The powder coating process provides maximum corrosion resistance and protests the bin from the elements – particularly important in seaside towns such as Brighton.

The 224 litre capacity is ideal for busy environments, with two internal galvanised steel liners that maximise the capacity of the unit whilst ensuring that the waste bags are not too large or too heavy for operatives to lift and empty.

Brighton designed these MLB/224 Litter Bins based on their bespoke requirements – whether you want to add your own logo or you’re looking for a specific size, our in-house design team are more than happy to work with you to discuss the specification that you require. Last year, we developed the MLB/112 Litter Bin to create a BBQ version, replacing the standard square apertures with a lift up flap to dispose of barbeque waste safely. These were designed for Manchester Metropolitan University and recently purchased by a number or organisations including Gloucester City Council.
