Celebrating International Women’s Day at Wybone

International Women’s Day originated more than one hundred years ago, and has been a day to celebrate women since the United Nations General Assembly invited member states to officially celebrate March 8, back in 1975. By 2014, International Women’s Day was celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide and over 25 declared the day an official holiday.

What does International Women's Day mean to Wybone?

Manufacturing and waste have predominantly been known as a male environment, but not at Wybone. We focus on employing the right people in the right role, regardless of sex and we don’t value one more than the other.

Whether you’re meeting with one of our Sales Managers or chasing an invoice, you’ll have a good chance of dealing with one of our talented female employees. But just because it’s International Women’s Day, doesn’t mean we want to give any less credit to our talented male employees, in fact we celebrate everyone at Wybone and prefer to appreciate experience and capabilities instead.

How the women of Wybone impact your order experience

When you visit us at an exhibition or you land on our website, you’ve arrived there because of our in-house all female marketing team; hello! We’re not alone, we’re often helped by our agency, Browndog Digital, who have an equal split of female and male team members.

If you have an enquiry and you want to see one of our Sales Managers, you may be lucky enough to have a meeting with our long-time employee, Emma. Emma is our Northern Sales Manager and she brings with her a wealth of experience, having been with Wybone for over a decade! If you need a quote, have a query or just want a nice chat on the phone, our internal all female sales team have over thirty years of experience to offer. We’re a loyal bunch here in Hoyland, with a very low staff turnover and a friendly family atmosphere.

Once you’ve placed your order, you might deal with Kat in our customer service team, or Karen in our finance team. Your product might be designed by Hannah, in our Design team. Once into manufacture, your product could be welded or press braked by the talented Chelsea, who challenges the status quo and contributes to the tiny statistic of just 4% of female welders in the UK (according to the National Careers Service).

If your order requires artwork, it could be printed by Lucy, our Print Technician and if you’re ordering one of our pedal operated bins, the metal components will likely have been prepped and scheduled by Ann, who has worked for Wybone for 24 years!

It doesn’t stop there though; when your order is ready it will be scheduled and dispatched by our Stores team. You may speak to Jo to book in your order and the quality assurance is managed by Helen, the daughter of our founder, Mr Wyatt. Finally, this big team of strong, independent women is supported by an all female Human Resources team.

So, as you can see, women are highly valued at Wybone and we play a huge role in your overall experience.

We’re not just a talented bunch of women…

Although it’s International Women’s Day, it would be remiss of us not to mention our amazing team of men. Our male employees bring just as much talent and experience to Wybone, working closely together as one big family to ensure you get the best possible service, from placing your order, to the manufacture and delivery of it.

When you buy from Wybone you support not just women, but local families, local suppliers and British manufacturing.

Happy International Women’s Day to everyone, and if no one has told you today, we think you’re all amazing!
