About the LBV/24 Closed Top Litter Bin

The LBV/24 Litter Bin

The LBV/24 Litter Bin is made from glass fibre, an impressive material which means your bin will never rust. And since this is an outdoor bin that’s popular in seaside towns, it’s an extremely important feature of your unit. With an extremely durable design, you’re guaranteed a bin that will last for ages, much like our other glass fibre bins that are still on location 20 years later.

This stylish rectangular unit comes with four large apertures to make waste disposal easy. Its 224-litre size gives you a glass fibre bin with excellent waste capacity, say goodbye to frequent emptying!

The slightly peaked lid means that rainwater does not settle on the top and the public is deterred from placing rubbish on the lid.

The glass fibre LBV/24 is available in three different finishes to suit your requirements – choose from a textured, smooth or Victoriana finish. Our standard finish is a PTX textured paint that gives a rough ‘sandpaper-like textured finish, designed to prevent unwanted graffiti and posters from being applied.

Advantages of Glass Fibre

Glass fibre boasts many benefits, making it a very sought-after material. And here you have it, beautifully crafted into a bin. You’re welcome.

  1. Damage resistant

The high tensile strength means it’s much harder to damage a glass fibre product by stretching. Their flexibility allows the fibres to bend without damage when subjected to stress or impact. Glass fibre also contains excellent thermal stability, leaving it unaffected in extreme temperatures, hot or cold.

To demonstrate the toughness of glass fibre composite, we created the Wybone grit bin hammer test.

2. Great for the environment

Because our fibreglass bins last so long thanks to the ‘make bins strong’ potion we poured into them (probably a little too much), it’s very unlikely you’ll need another bin from us for a long time. This allows us to save on raw materials and plenty of energy-related consumptions that naturally happen in a busy manufacturing company like ours!

3. You save on costs

This may seem obvious, but if you buy a bin that’s designed with longevity in mind, you’re not going to be pulling out your wallet every few months to fix those damages. If glass fibre bins could talk, they’d tell you to ‘put that credit card back in your pocket. I’m here to stay’.

FAQs

  • What is this bin manufactured from?

This bin is manufactured from glass fibre composite (GFC), which is ideally suited for street furniture due to its strength and durability. It’s completely unaffected by extreme weather conditions and salt water, which allows the bin to be placed in a coastal or roadside location and remain intact. Did you know all of our GFC products are made from 65% renewable resources?

  • What are the advantages of glass fibre composite?

Our glass fibre litter bins have high impact strength, some of our units have been in situ for the best part of two decades and are ideal for areas prone to vandalism. Glass fibre products offer substantial fire protection, conforming to Class 1/0 Building Regulations. This material also has a low carbon footprint due to the longevity of the product.

Our team performed a hammer test to demonstrate the strength and durability of our glass fibre litter bins. You can watch the video here.

  • What is the capacity of this bin?

The LBV/24 has a capacity of 224 litres, allowing for plenty of waste disposal, ideal for areas with high foot fall.

  • What sort of finish can I have on this bin?

As this bin is manufactured from glass fibre composite, it comes with a choice of finishes. Our standard finish is a PTX textured paint that gives a rough ‘sandpaper’ like textured finish, designed to prevent unwanted graffiti and posters being applied.

You could opt for a smoother pseudo-cast iron finish with only a slight texture and no roughness, or a Victoriana finish, which is the smoother option with only a slight texture and no roughness, with the addition of highlighted beading as standard.

  • Where should I put this bin?

As this unit is unaffected by adverse weather conditions, it can be placed in coastal seaside towns and in busy city centres as it will remain unaffected for years to come. The Victoriana finish gives a traditional look, which is perfect for heritage sites and town centres.

  • How do I install this bin?

This bin has a pre-drilled base for ground fixing; we recommend using RAWL bolts but other fixing options are available.

  • How do I empty this bin?

The LBV/24 features a budget lock as standard, Simply unlock the front opening door using the budget lock key which is provided, and pull out the internal L1 Galvanised Steel Liner, this has two handles to the exterior to make emptying an easier task.

  • Can I customise this bin?

We tailor all of our products and services to meet your needs; the LBV/20 is available with a choice of standard WRAP recycling iconography fitted as a perspex plate. Our team of in-house designers can create unique perspex plates to suit your company. Our most popular colour is black, but this bin can be painted in any of our standard glass fibre composite colours.

A moulded litter or tidy man plate in either gold or silver can be bolted to two sides of the unit. Perspex artwork is not available if a moulded plate is required.

Our full range of ashtrays can be fitted to the top of the bin to ensure that those areas where smoking is permitted can be kept clean and tidy of cigarette ends.

  • How can I stop animals from getting inside my bin?

We have solutions to this problem; a raised liner allows room underneath the bin for a rat baiting box. We also have bird flaps to help prevent birds and squirrels from getting inside the bin.
