Wybone deliver clinical sackholders all the way to NHS OrkneyMay 31, 2019
From Barnsley to the Balfour Hospital – our team travelled all the way to the Orkney Islands last month. If you’ve never heard of Orkney, it’s a cluster of islands at the very top of Scotland!
Our dedicated delivery drivers made the long trip up from our factory in South Yorkshire to the top of the country, and then caught the ferry over to mainland Orkney to personally deliver and site these bins in their new hospital.
The health trust, NHS Orkney, placed an order for over 1,100 Capsule II Sackholders to be manufactured and sited in their new state of the art hospital, the Balfour. These sack holders were purchased as part of the Health Facilities Scotland tender, manufactured in 20 litre and 70 litre sizes.
The 20 litre size is a smaller healthcare unit; ideal for areas with limited space, such as toilets and changing rooms. The 70 litre size is more suited to patient rooms or communal areas, where a larger amount of rubbish is anticipated.
The new Balfour hospital has cost around £64 million and is still in the midst of production – it has already been hailed as one of the world’s best healthcare projects at a leading award ceremony.
The 16,248 square metre building has been in planning since 2016 and will transform healthcare for Orkney residents, funded by the Scottish Government and Scottish Futures Trust.
We were successful in winning our place on the Health Facilities Scotland (HFS) framework back in 2018; this framework allows other organisations to order medical and cleaning equipment from a recognised supplier.
All of our sackholders are designed and manufactured by our in-house team in South Yorkshire, so both small and large orders can be fulfilled quickly and efficiently. Our sackholders are made up of three main components – the pedals, lids and frames.
Watch our production video which shows our highly skilled team shaping these individual parts, which are then ready to be fixed together on the assembly line.
