Wybone Delivers Over 3000 Bins in 5 Weeks for New Royal Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a national and international leader in cutting edge trials and studies and plays a critical role in the development of medicine. With their new and improved Royal Hospital, they are confident that this will provide a safe, healing environment with an enhanced patient, staff and visitor experience.

The hospital has 640 beds with en-suite facilities, 18 state of the art operating theatres for both inpatient and day-case surgery and 40 critical care beds for patients in ICU (intensive care unit) and HDU (high dependency unit). With hygiene being one of the most critical factors when it comes to healthcare, the NHS Foundation Trust required a colossal number of waste bins and at Wybone we were delighted to supply them to the new hospital.

We were selected to supply, deliver and install over 3000 capsule bins at the New Royal Liverpool University Hospital. The entire process required a total of 3346 bins that were delivered and installed by nine staff who went to the site in rotating teams of three. Originally we believed that it would take us six weeks to provide our service, but our fantastic team was able to complete the job in just five weeks.

They kitted out the hospital with our plastic Capsule clinical waste bins, in varying sizes from our small 28 Litre, medium 42 Litre, and large 80 Litre units. Produced completely from hard wearing plastic, the Capule Sackholder is easy to clean and its slimline design ensures a small footprint to ensure space is used efficiently. They had the units with a plastic body, meaning there are no metal components used in manufacture, making them ideal for areas sensitive to metal parts such as MRI rooms.

The New Royal Liverpool University Hospital opened on the 4th October 2022 where more than 360 patients were welcomed through its doors. They staged a 24 day move from the old Royal, and welcomed their first inpatients on the 10th October 2022. Health Minister Nick Markham said;
