Last month, six bespoke Torpedo Triple Recycling Units left our Barnsley factory and began their journey to Luanda, Angola, where they will be installed in a new specialist burns hospital currently under construction.
The project forms part of a major healthcare investment supported by UK Export Finance (UKEF) and demonstrates how British manufacturing continues to support large-scale developments around the world.
The customer first approached Wybone after struggling to source a suitable premium recycling bin for the project. The original specification called for a high-end recycling unit from the USA, but sourcing and procurement challenges led the team to search for a UK manufacturer capable of delivering a similar design.
After discovering Wybone online, they contacted our sales team to discuss a bespoke recycling solution that could meet the project’s operational, aesthetic, and budget requirements.

Working closely with the customer, Wybone supplied six bespoke Torpedo Triple Tray Recycling Units designed specifically for the hospital environment. The recycling bins will be installed throughout reception areas and patient wards, helping to create clean, organised, and sustainable spaces for staff, patients, and visitors.
All six recycling bins were designed and manufactured at our Barnsley factory. By managing the project in-house, we maintained control over quality, design, manufacturing, and delivery throughout the process.
Once completed, the units were carefully packed into heavy-duty export crates before being shipped to Angola.
