Wybone Food Donation Bins help Malta National Food Drive

July 23, 2018

Today we’ve been on the beautiful island of Malta supporting our friends – Green Skip Services – and Maltese President – Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca in the launch of a new initiative to collect food for those in need.

Green Skip Services have collaborated with Malta Community Chest Fund to organise the distribution of food donation boxes in supermarkets, to facilitate the collection of food for those in need. Beginning with an initial roll out of 16 collection boxes, Mary Gaerty, Managing Director of Green Skip Services said ‘every supermarket and shop in Malta and Gozo should have one of these containers to collect as much food as possible and help as many people as we can.”

The brightly coloured Food Donation Bins were manufactured at our factory in South Yorkshire and safely shipped over to Malta, ready for the launch today. Our National Sales Manager, John Smith proudly attended the press conference, where President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca said that the initiative would see Malta unite with the rest of the world in continuing measures to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and encourage shoppers to support the efforts by donating items whenever they visited their local supermarket.

The Food Donation Units are manufactured from premium quality galvanised steel and powder coated in bright red, ensuring they stand out for all to see. The perspex bodies offer a durable, clear panel in the middle of the bins to encourage donations, and vinyl artwork showing visual targets lets people know how close they are to reaching the goal.

A modified version of our Box Cycle Recycling Bin, the Food Donation Bin is becoming a popular choice for supermarkets and universities. The simple, yet functional design makes it easy to collect small and large items and the unit is highly customisable; so it’s easy to use the surface of the bin to promote your initiative. The bin can be powder coated in any standard colour and has easy wipe-clean surfaces so it is easy to maintain. We can apply standard or bespoke artwork for you.

We’re looking forward to seeing the results of Malta’s food donation drive and we hope to help many more organisations to do the same! If you have any specific requirements, feel free to get in touch by calling 01226 352333 or emailing
