Wybone staff raise thousands for NHS Charities Together

This week we promised an update on the progress of the NHS wind spinners that were manufactured by us as a donation for our wonderful Manufacturing Technician, Mark Simpson. Mark has worked for Wybone for 22 years and in that time, we have supported him with resources to raise money for various charities.

Over the years, Mark has raised a staggering £6,800 selling a range of spinners and keyrings to benefit the below charities:

We asked Mark where his idea came from for the NHS wind spinners and it was his previous work with the animal welfare charities that inspired him and he wasted no time in getting the items laser cut, whilst his wife began advertising them on her Facebook page. The posts were shared by many Wybone staff along with friends and family, until the reach was so great that we quickly ran out of the stock and had to produce more.

The money is still being collected, with many generous people giving more than the £5 suggested donation, however at the moment Mark estimates that he has sold 1,000 spinners with over £6,000 raised; 100% of which w ill be donated to NHS Charities Together, registered charity number: 1186569.

Mark spoke to us about what this has meant to him, “In these uncertain times, it was nice to be able to contribute something that could bring joy whilst showing our support and appreciation to the NHS. I’m grateful to Richard (Wybone’s Managing Director) for donating the steel and allowing me to use our machinery to produce these wind spinners.

We’re overwhelmed by the generosity of people and can’t believe how much we were able to raise in such a short period of time. We’d have loved to have kept going until we hit £10,000, however we must remember our focus is to continue manufacturing much needed clinical waste bins for the NHS.”
