Are your cycle racks sufficient for the cycle to work scheme?

November 17, 2017

With increasing fuel costs and concern for the environment high on the agenda, cycling around Britain has never been more popular.

According to the cycling charity Sustrans, CO2 emissions in the UK are expected to rise by 35% by 2030. So it’s important that we change our behaviour in order to reduce this soaring figure; one way that we can achieve this is by changing the way we travel.

There are significant strategies in planning to radically increase the use of cycling as an everyday means of transport, particularly in our cities. The aim is to raise the percentage of journeys made by bicycle from its current rate of 2% to 10% by 2025 and 25% by 2050.

The ‘Cycle to Work’ scheme is a Government tax exemption initiative introduced to promote healthier journeys to work and to reduce environmental pollution. It allows employers to loan bikes to employees, which can save up to 42% off the cost of a bike, and any additional equipment they may need.

Last year, more than two million people across the country cycled at least once a week, according to British Cycling, the sports governing body in the UK. As more people are replacing the car for the bicycle, more space is needed to accommodate the large number of bikes now on our streets.

To help support organisations with their cycle to work scheme, we have a range of cycle racks designed for functionality; each given a contemporary aesthetic, making them the perfect choice for modern environments.

For areas where space is limited, we have the Multiple Station Cycle Rack. This high-low bicycle rack can accommodate multiples of five bikes and can be put together in a modular style to accommodate twice as many bikes as a regular cycle store.

Our BR/1WF Wall Mountable Single Cycle Rack is ideal for securing one bicycle, as it can be fixed to a wall or heavy duty Wybone litter bin, making it impossible to move.

The BR/4 Quad Cycle Rack Station is manufactured from durable galvanised steel and can accommodate up to four bikes. Perfect for parks and playgrounds, where ample space is available.

For a simple yet contemporary design, we have the Omega Cycle Hoop, available in stainless steel or powder coated galvanised steel. This unit is available as a toast rack option to accommodate up to ten bikes, which is ideal for modern environments such as schools and offices; particularly those offering a cycle to work scheme or encouraging active travel around town centres.
