Wybone supports NHS Sustainability Day 2018March 13, 2018
The NHS Sustainability Day is a national campaign across the health sector; NHS Trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups and Hospitals all take part in the day to highlight the important role sustainable development plays in the health service.
The campaign also includes national annual awards, which showcases the best examples from across England around sustainable development in healthcare.
The Trust will be inviting various sustainability and health and wellbeing related organisations on the day, covering topics such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, food, sustainable travel and water use.
Esther Coffin Smith, Sustainable Development Manager at North Bristol NHS Trust told us: “The main aim of the day is to raise awareness and engage staff, patients and visitors on our sustainable work and how they can get involved but also what they can do to reduce their impact on the environment.”
The Trust’s theme this year is waste, focusing heavily on what they do as an organisation to reduce waste and improve segregation.
Esther continued: “Whilst not necessarily the most exciting topic, bins are essential to how we manage our waste and always seem to be in short supply. This combined with a temporary ban on all furniture purchases means that a chance to win a new bin will be very popular.”
