Wybone’s Print Room Evolution – Custom Artwork & Bespoke Vinyl for Bins

In-house production has been at the core of Wybone’s success for a long time. By keeping much of our design and manufacturing process at home, we’re able to keep a close eye on the quality and consistency of our products. So, we knew when we launched our printing service that we would need to retain this mindset by creating an on-site printing room and training dedicated Wybone printing staff.

Since 2018, Wybone’s printing team has been creating artwork and graphics for our customers and products, and our in-house print room has continued to grow in sophistication and product offering. What began as a simple range of labels, fascias and lettering has expanded to include large-scale, bespoke artwork and vinyl wrapping service.

One of our biggest orders came in 2020, requesting over 8,000 magnetic flip labels for use with sackholder-style bins. This printed solution allows our healthcare clients to change the clinical waste stream of a bin quickly and easily by simply flipping the magnetic label over to display a different colour-coded vinyl. With some initial struggles to accommodate this large order, the success of this project ultimately provided us with the proof of concept required to make this a staple offering. We now produce all our magnetic flip labels in-house and continue to fulfil high-volume print orders regularly.

The latest iteration of our print room has seen a considerable expansion, providing us with more space and capacity than ever before thanks to our recent office renovation. In 2022, we introduced a brand-new large format UV printer, which has significantly increased our production speed and output. Not only is UV printing quicker due to the reduced drying time when compared with solvent or latex printing, but the addition of a separate plotter also allows us to cut and print pieces simultaneously, effectively doubling our rate of production. Finally, we’ve also recently developed the ability to produce our own Perspex plates, meaning that we now produce 100% of our product artwork in-house!

We’re so proud of how our printing journey has evolved over the last 5 years and will continue to build this service into another industry leading Wybone offering.
